The Wan Hua Tong Lamp is part of our Ashmolean Collection. Complete with a hardwood base and carrying a fully lined and pleated cream-coloured shade.
Wan Hua Tong. During the Ming dynasty, Chinese missions travelled to the Middle East. They brought back glass and metalwork, and the kilns at Jingdezhen reproduced their designs on porcelain using deep blue cobalt from Persia. Wan Hua Tong is the kaleidoscopic pattern on the watermelon jar, an Islamic design inspired by a bianhu moon flask, held by the Ashmolean Museum, made between 1403-1425.
The base is also available as a jar on our sister website – Please click here to view.
